Climbing, rope courses and alpine tours

Via ferratas, high ropes courses and climbing gardens for beginners and professionals, you don't have to look far for them in Pontresina and the surrounding area. There are offers and possibilities for every level of difficulty.

Via ferrata

Pontresina offers three via ferratas with varying degrees of difficulty:

Via ferrata La Resgia

This extremely attractive via ferrata starts at the Pontresina works. It leads in two demanding hours in the direction of Alp Languard and ends directly at the forest border. From here you can reach our mountain restaurant Alp Languard in a quarter of an hour.

Via Ferrata Piz Trovat 1

The Engadine's first "via ferrata" leads in two hours to the Piz Trovat (3146 m) and, just twenty minutes from the Diavolezza mountain station, offers an easy but imposing climbing experience with gigantic panoramic views. Good physical condition, sure-footedness and a head for heights are prerequisites. The obligatory equipment can be hired at the Diavolezza valley station.

Via Ferrata Piz Trovat II

The difficult variant of the "Via Ferrata" on Piz Trovat. Its level of difficulty (K5-6) requires a lot of strength and stamina, longer overhanging sections (up to 30 metres!) require mountaineering skills.

The Pontresina mountaineering school offers daily guided via ferrata tours.

Alpine tours

Mountaineering is an age-old tradition in Pontresina. Located right on the Bernina Ridge, the mountain village is predestined for mountaineering. As early as the mid-19th century, the imposing peaks of the eastern Alps were climbed for the first time, mainly by local mountaineers. Since then, the majestic snow-covered mountains of the Engadine have attracted countless mountaineers.
