Here at the Sporthotel, our “Wellness Zone” is nature itself, in the stunning mountain landscape of the Upper Engadine. Against the breathtaking backdrop of the Alpine vista, you will find peace and plenty of space to recharge your batteries.
Taking time to feel life with all your senses, to experience movement in the great outdoors, to eat healthily while consciously looking for relaxation and harmony – that is what we consider Alpine Wellness.
For us, Alpine Wellness means going back to one’s roots as you immerse yourself in the region’s nature, culture, and quality of life – an exquisitely pleasurable experience unlike any other.
The natural spectacles and the original charm of the mountains and their inhabitants play their part in helping to make it a unique and unforgettable experience for all the senses.
At our hotel, we want to bring you even closer to the nature of the Engadine. For your health. For your well-being. For all your senses.
Here are our tips:
Hiking into the sunrise
Experience the awakening of the new day on an early hike from the hotel to the Alp Languard. Morning dew, fresh air, and peace; then the first chirping of our mountain birds. Once at the top, we serve a delicious Alpfrühstück (Alpine breakfast) that tastes even better now that you have worked up an appetite.
Hiking into the sunset
Take the last train to Muottas Muragl then make your way on foot along the trail to Alp Languard. You are almost sure to be practically alone. Take a break, absorb the view and start dreaming. On the terrace of the Alp Languard, enjoy the magnificent view and the sunset over the Bernina massif before the evening breaks in the valley below. Upon request, a backpack packed with local specialties can be waiting for you at the Languard. Who knows, maybe you will even spot a capricorn...
Meditation on the Alp Languard
Every Tuesday in July and August
A nature experience of a special kind – Extra early ride up at 7:55 followed by one hour of pure relaxation and meditation exercises.
Find absolute peace
We show you the hidden paths where you can be one with nature.
The barefoot trail
Walking barefoot is great for the circulation and has a positive effect on our well-being: the cardiovascular system is stimulated, vitality is increased, and the immune system is boosted. Various barefoot trails lead through the stunning natural settings around Celerina and the Staz forest. With hiking times between 45 minutes and two hours, at different levels of difficulty, everyone can find their perfect trail.
Easy hikes to the eternal ice
An impressive nature experience is the hike to the glacier tongue of the Morteratsch, which is accessible from the train station of the same name on a well-signposted glacier trail. Experience the magic of this unique journey as you replenish your body with the cool, fresh, wholesome air of the glacier.
Vantage points for your well-being
Beautiful views promote a feeling of well-being. The region around Pontresina features dozens of such vantage points, boasting magnificent panoramic views over the surrounding landscape, from the Upper Engadine lakes to the glaciers, and of course the sunsets – from the Schafberg to the highest peaks of the Eastern Alps, for example. Incidentally, here in the mountains, the sunrises and the early morning hours are just as spectacular as the sunsets.
Fly fishing is more than just fishing: fly fishing means shedding off your everyday life and meditating out on the water. Passionate fly fishers and anyone interested in giving it a try will find perfect conditions at the Bernina Pass in the Lej Nair and Lej Pitschen. From 1st June to 15th October from 05:00 in the morning to 23:00 in the evening. Pontresina guests can fish free of charge on Lej Nair and Lej Pitschen.

Many of our rooms feature pinewood furnishings. Pine has a positive effect on human well-being. A fact acknowledged here in the mountains for many centuries has now also been confirmed by modern science: the wood of the Swiss Pine has a positive effect on people’s resilience as well as their body’s ability to recover. The Swiss pine scent with its essential oils is also calming and ensures restful sleep. Ask for our Swiss Pine rooms (Arvenzimmer) when you make your booking.
Upon request, we can provide you with pine pillows as well.
